High Holy Days 2023

Please join us as we greet the year 5784 with soulful prayer, transcendent music and inspirational insights from our beloved Rabbi Naomi Levy and the Nashuva Band.

Once again, all of Nashuva’s High Holy Days services will be held outdoors, in the inspiring beauty of nature.  Invite your friends, family and neighbors to celebrate the Jewish New Year with Nashuva. But we need you to reserve and donate now.

And, we invite you to join us for something new this year –  Nashuva is having its very first Rosh Hashanah Seder! On Rosh Hashanah Eve (Friday night, September 15th), we will have a service combined with the ancient ceremony of a Rosh Hashanah Festive Seder Meal, a Sephardic tradition going back for two thousand years.  The theme of the Rosh Hashanah Seder is the welcoming of a new year of blessings.  We will all partake in the eating of a meal full of symbolic foods for health, protection and blessings. It will certainly be a holy night to remember.

Please note that there is no separate charge for the meal.  If you would like to support our first Rosh Hashanah Festive Seder, we welcome your donation. We hope that you will join us!

Join us at Nashuva for High Holy Days like no other! We all need spiritual uplift and Nashuva will be here for you to raise you higher.

But we need you to reserve and donate now!

Nashuva does not charge admissions for any of its services. The suggested minimum donation for attendance at the High Holy Day services is $350-$750 per person. Nashuva relies on High Holy Day donations to support year round programs.

We encourage giving from your heart, as you are able, to keep our services open to all. We are so grateful for any amount you are able to give. Every dollar counts!

No one will be turned away. Please donate as you are able.

Social Action for Yom Kippur

On Yom Kippur, we choose to be hungry for a day, and we remember what a challenging feeling that is. But for so many others hunger is a reality they don’t get to choose.

Let’s turn our compassion into action: On Yom Kippur morning, please bring some canned foods with you for our food drive to support people who are homeless and Veterans who are at-risk. Please make sure the canned foods you bring are not expired.

The donated food will all go to Village for Vets, an organization that fills critical gaps in key services for homeless and at-risk veterans in greater Los Angeles.

    • Morning Service: Yom Kippur Day
      10:00 am In-person and Livestream
      at Clover Park

    • Our Healing Sound Bath was transformative for many in our community last year. We invite you to join us again this year, immediately following services on Yom Kippur morning in Clover Park (same location as services). No prior experience needed for this soulful experience in nature. Please being a blanket.

    • Evening Service: Ne’ilah 5:45 pm
Havdalah followed by Break Fast 7:25 pm

at Clover Park and on livestream (Ne’ilah & Havdalah only)

Please plan to stay for our Break Fast following Havdalah.
Nashuva invites you to be our guest, open to all!
Inspiring prayer, delicious food, joyful music, inviting community!

We welcome everyone, but we invite you to support Nashuva at the High Holy Days by making a donation when you reserve your space.

We suggest a voluntary minimum donation of $350 – $700 per person.  We hope you will consider a higher amount to show your support and commitment to Nashuva.

Please understand that we are trying to ensure that Nashuva remain a special community and that it continue to offer a unique setting for spiritual awakening. Although we will not turn anyone away who cannot afford the suggested $350 donation (tax deductible as allowed by law), we encourage you to donate to the best of your ability. Please note that it is very important that everyone complete the High Holy Days reservation form so that we have an indication of how many people we’ll have over the Holy Days.

All of Nashuva’s services will be LiveStreamed.  Nashuva’s live Kol Nidre service webcast in partnership with JewishJournal.com is one of our community’s greatest outreach tools.

Last year thousands of people participated with us from all across the world – people who are disconnected from Judaism and looking to return, people who are home-bound, people in nursing homes, hospital beds, people in hospice, Jews who are looking for a way to reconnect to our traditions and faith.

WE ARE SEEKING SPONSORS WHO CAN FUND OUR HIGH QUALITY FILM PRODUCTION OF OUR SERVICES THAT WILL GO OUT TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE.

WE ARE ALSO SEEKING SPONSORS WHO CAN HELP FUND OUR OTHER HIGH HOLY DAY SERVICES. HOLDING OUR SERVICES OUTSIDE, SURROUNDED BY THE BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION OF NATURE IS VERY COSTLY.  IT REQUIRES EQUIPMENT AND SEATING RENTALS BESIDES THE COST OF THE LIVESTREAM.

PLEASE EMAIL US AT [email protected] TO LET US KNOW WE CAN COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT.

This is a great mitzvah with a huge impact for lifting spirits and for reviving souls.
Please email us and support this amazing outreach service.

CHILD CARE:

Our outdoor park location is very welcoming and is ideal for children and families. Children love coming to Nashuva outdoors! They love dancing to the music and meeting their friends!

Families often lay out their blankets and enjoy the service together, making for a joyous and deeply meaningful experience.

We hope you’ll come and invite your friends!

ATTIRE:

Please note that all in-person services will be held outside so please dress accordingly. Dress is casual for all Nashuva services, but we encourage you to come in white in honor of the Holy Days.

If you own a Tallit (prayer shawl), please bring it to morning services and to all Yom Kippur services.  If you do not own a tallit, buy yourself a gift this year and see how wonderful it feels to be sheltered beneath its wings.

SOCIAL ACTION – Volunteer:

We are looking for volunteers to help with the Holy Days!

The best way to make new connections and friends is to roll up your sleeves and get involved. It is also the best way to improve your mood and add meaning to your life. So please email us at [email protected] to let us know you’d like to be of service. Please specify if you are able to be a volunteer for the HOLY DAYS!

PARKING:

CLOVER PARK, SANTA MONICA PARKING:

In addition to the Clover Park lot (to the north of the location), there is ample street parking on Donald Douglas Loop N to the east of the location and on 25th Street to the west of the location.
