Join
Rabbi Naomi Levy and the Nashuva Band for Rosh Hashanah in
nature. The Psalms ask us to experience God in nature, but so often we pray
these words of majesty indoors. Nashuva at Temescal is a time when our
prayers come alive and God's hand is felt among the grasses and the trees - an
opportunity to be taken back to our roots.
Our morning begins with a very special hike in nature at 9 am led by our very
own Andy Lipkis, Founder and President
of TreePeople. It will not be a strenuous hike but a hike for all
ages and the scenery is just beautiful.
It is here that we begin to embrace our deeper
connection to nature. As we experience the beauty around us, our awareness
will surely be heightened as to the severity of the drought, as well as
our responsibility to help preserve nature.
The hike will lead you straight to where our service will begin, in the stunning
and shady meadow at Temescal Cayon. The hike is optional and you can
choose to simply attend the magical service at 10 am.
We will have ushers at the entrance to Temescal to show you where to park.
Please ask if you require special assistance to get to the meadow.
At 10 am we gather together to pray in the meadow beneath the shade of sycamore
trees. Rabbi Levy and the Nashuva Band will be leading us in a true prayer
experience. Everyone is called up to the Torah that day for a special
chance to receive a blessing. It is a Jewish Tanglewood. An experience like no other.
If you've never prayed with us in Temescal, join us to
experience the magic. Invite your friends, your neighbors, your relatives, your
co-workers. Invite people you know will not attend a traditional service. Temescal is our outdoor temple.
This is a service you will not want to miss!
Please spread the word and invite all your friends to join us!
